Volunteer Opportunities

Macomb Orchard Trail

The club has adopted a two mile section of the Macomb Orchard Trail. Our section is from 25 Mile Rd/Shelby Rd up to West Rd. 3-4 times a year club members maintain that section of the trail that we have adopted. It is a great way to give back to a trail that we all use and enjoy. This was set-up by our Past–President and current member John Tarantino. He currently heads up and helps with the clean-up, or “beautify the trail day”, along with a fun run. Dates will be posted. We always welcome and need volunteers for this day.

Back to the Beach

Our club is a proud sponsor of this terrific event. The race is held at Stony Creek Metropark-Eastwood Beach. The race includes a half-marathon, 5k and 10K runs, held in May. Club member Joe Burns is the Race Director. We host a water station, as well as promote the club. Our Club tent is set up at the starting area, where runners can pick up Distance Run applications as well as club related events. Volunteers are always needed at the water station and tent area.

Shelby Twp. Jingle Bell 5K

Our club also is a proud sponsor of this festive event. The race is held at the Shelby Twp., Senior Center, and is run on the Cherry Creek Golf Course in December. Club member Mike Ward is the Race Director. Volunteers are always needed to help out for registration and out on the course. Out club tent is located at the starting area staffed by club members to help answer any questions.

Stony Creek Clean-Up Day

Club members volunteer to help with the clean-up at Stony Creek Metropark. A great way to give back to the park. The clean-up is usually held on a Saturday close to Earth Day.

Stony Creek Distance Run

On the 1st Thursday evening in August our club hosts the Stony Creek Distance Run. Our biggest and best event of the year! We need lots of volunteers to help out for this event. We need help with Sponsorship, pass our flyers, and stuff race packets to help promote the race. And on race day we need help in the registration area assisting in a variety of ways. If you don’t plan on running the race please come out and give us a hand.

Bagel Day Hosts

The first Sunday of every month we have a group run followed by a “Bagel Sunday”. A club member volunteers to pick up bagels that morning and other needed supplies. Bagels, coffee, and Gatorade are set up in the warming room at the Boat Launch.

Other Opportunities

There are always other events that our club supports and volunteers are always needed. Our organization is always trying to support other events in the running community and help out wherever we can. We help out the Hansons Running Shops as well as RunMacomb events.
